Mixture screw on 4A-C Wed, 13 October 2004 01:43 Go to next message
Can someone please help me out with this, with the mixture screw on the 4A-C, do you screw it to the left to make it run richer, and the right to make it run leaner? or is it the other way around?

Thanks for any help.

Unscrewing it (anti-clockwise) will make it richer.

Remeber though, its the idle mixture screw... it doesnt effect the whole RPM/throttle range.

its like a normal water tap....turn clockwise to restrict flow.

with motorbikes, the standard setting is all the way in and 1 + 1/2 turns out.

be careful to not screw it in to hard bcos the tip can get wedged in and snap off. not fun to remove No No No ....still havent figured out how to remove mine yet Mad (wasnt me either)

lol i think the nr of turns will vary.....i think u should...wind all the way in...unwind 1.5-2.5 turns.....turn slowly with car running....the revs will go up/down..... when u find a place where they stop going up and start going down...or the opposite stop there....test drive

The correct method:

Screw mixture screw out 5 turns from all the way in.
Set idle speed using acel stop screw.
Screw in mixture screw until RPM at idle drops by 50 to 100 RPM.
