Few questions, Reasonably modified 7M-GTE Supra Thu, 14 October 2004 02:47 Go to next message
Hi All,

Im going to buy a supra, 3.0 turbo.

The Engine is the 7m, and has a HKS Metal headgasket (1.2/1.4 dont know), Trust TD06H-19c turbo, FMIC (unknown brand), Blow off valve, HD clutch blah blah blah, you know, all the goodies.

Now the engine itself has 120 thou on the clock, and ive requested the owner get a compression and leak down test done.
What kind of figures am i looking for out of the cylinders?
Big power out of an older engine? should i be worried?

Anything else i should be concerned about with the engine side of things?

This will have the engine specs including compression test limits.

Make sure the car is checked out by RACV/MTA etc.

Carefully check the quality of the workmanship, it may give a clue as to how it has been looked after.
