Swapping 1JZ sumps Fri, 15 October 2004 04:27 Go to next message
Hey guys, I currently have a Mid rear (jzz30) sump atm, and am arranging to do a swap to a front sump. What I'd like to know is, are the turbo drain pipes (the rubber ones) the same between all the sump models?

Am I correct in saying that all I need for the swap is
-sump (bottom metal piece of sump, windage tray and upper alloy section of sump)
-oil pickup
-dip stick

Cheers
Wilbo

if i remember correctly the oil return lines are different. Usually the other ones would come with the sump though.

Sigh, well that'd be right! I might be missing one of the oil lines I think (will have to do a double check on that tho, only had a quick look to date!) Don't suppose you have a pic of a mid rear sump with turbo oil drain lines connected?

BTW I didn't see it on your list but there is a plate inside the sump that surrounds the oil pickup and I think it is to stop the oil surging of something like that. They are different between sumps but it all bolts up.

Yep, they are different Smile

You need a front sump right? So you have a mid sump with no oil lines and you need the oil lines for the front sump like the one in your pic. I can give you one, but I cut the other one as I was pissed off at it and couldn't get the turbo off.

I don't think I will need them when I get the single turbo.

BTW take notice of the different mounting positions for the engine mounts. That one got me Smile
