aw11 battery relocation Sun, 17 October 2004 02:24 Go to next message
hey there, im relocating my battery to the boot. im pretty sure its the right way but just to make sure can somebody tell me if there is anything wrong.

there 2 power cable into the standard batt location, i just bought myself some cheapy distribution block at jaycar used in car audio. gonna run these 2 cable into the DB and 1 4g power cable from the DB to the new batt location in boot. earth from standard batt location gonna go straight to chasis in engine bay. then 4g earth from new batt to some grounding point in boot.
do that sound right? no need for fusing etc...? using old leftovers car amplifier cables should be fine?

mounting of the batt in boot was done using exisitng brackets for trim already in my boot. all i did was relocated one on either side of battery and using universal batt holder to secure. should i be using piece of wood or plastic tray under batt?

thanx

I wouldn't worry about a plastic or wood tray, as most car trays are metal to start off with. I would however install a nice fat inline fuse just before the battery (someone may be able to tell you how many amp). But being the victim of an electrical fire in the past, I recommend fusing near the battery.
