tech tip for stereo installs

Hello everyone,
Just thought I would share with you a small tech tip for when you pull out your Toyota two DIN stereo after you have decided that you can afford to put in something better.
What do you do with that hole the tape\radio unit left if your only putting in a single DIN head unit?
Well you get yourself Toyota part: 55521-YA020-20
This is a plastic pocket that I personally have used in the AE86 and Hilux. It will line up with the factory mounting brackets etc. If you decide to use four self tappers you may need to drill some other holes in the factory bracket but this will not take more time than your favourite punk tune.
Cheers

Yes they come in black
No I don't have a picture, try and imagine a black plastic pocket that takes up 1 DIN space.
About 25 dollars.

You can usually nab these at the wreckers for next to nothing. I got mine out of a Camry.

As DIN is DIN I'm guessing they will fit just about everything. Good to know

I got mine from Toyota
I think it was for an AE101 Corolla.
Cost $9.50 or something stupidly low.
Black too.

Also usable is a similar (possibly identical) pocket found on late model MX-5s. Available for $11 new from Mazda. I know it works perfectly on commodores. I suspect a universal fit to other cars...I personally wouldn't know, I drive a classic car , without a shitty plastic dashboard of centre console.
