What Can Stop a 4age Reving Out Tue, 01 October 2002 09:05 Go to next message
Today at the M2 toll gates i took off quickly, accelerating to about 5000rpm in first, then upto second and decided to push it a little, when the tacho needle hit about 6400 my car just died.It was like what normally happens when you hit the 7500rpm redline except that it happened at 6400rpm.My engine used to rev out right to the redline but this is really the first time i've pushed the engine for quite sometime.I'm a much more calmer driver now, cauz i'm on a probationary license.Other info is that it'an ae82 corolla with a later ae92 100kw engine and i'm using the standard computer with a 20v gearbox and i'm also using premium unleaded

ANY HELP PLEASE

Cheers Adrian

I'd aggree with Oz Craig. Check to see if your ecu has reported any error codes.

Therare plently of web sites with the error codes, what hey mean and how to get them.

Craig.

Was it actually "bouncing" off the limiter or did it just feel really sluggish?

the CAT in my mates aw11 collapsed with pretty much the same result.. felt normal down low but woudlnt rev

Oz_craig-it could be my ecu,i've got an error code,my interpretation is that it reads "no G- or Ne- from igniter to ecu"

AbbaddonGZE-this sounds like my problem,i can rev hard until about 3500-4000 then it feels sluggish,it will rev higher but it struggles to rev freely and it sounds like i've got an exhaust leak at the front somewhere
