I'm about to put a 3T-GTE in my TA22 and i was just wondering what sort of throttle body's people have used instead of the standard ones?? What's good and what's not, also prices if you know.
it depends on what your gonna do and what you want out of the motor. if the motor is still stock and nothing done and your gonna use the stock plenum then dont change the throttle body.
if you are going custom plenum then you need to calculate what is required for your use. at the end of the day you can use preactically any throttle body from any car and get it modified to suit your needs.
you may notice that everyone would most probably use the stock throttle body as it is sufficient for all needs, but if you are going to run extreme boost regularily then you would look into a bigger throttle body to reduce any restrictions that the stock one would cause from the high air intake
thats what i believe anyway. if people disagree then please make it known
Thanks for the reply. I am going to get a custom plenum at the same time the engine is going to get put in. The engine is standard atm except from a T28 turbo. I will get forged pistons in the future as well and will probably want about 10psi of boost atm and maybe later on put it up a little.
Well i guess any throttle body will do then. Thanks again
At 10PSI you will find the standard throttle body is ample.
There was an article in the tech section written by the Toyman that gives a rule of thumb calculation to determine size (I just tried to find it to post a link and I was unable to find it) perhaps you could pm him for a copy or directions on where to find it (as an aside I have made 190+ rwkW with the std T/B).
