I just watched it too, I haven't seen much else of him, but i was waiting the whole time for him to gee-up the priest at the end...then bam, credits.
So i looked up an interview
http://www.abc.net.au/rn/relig/spirit/stories/s119 3306.htm
and *according to that, it was somewhat legit. Then again, it could be a double double bluff, or something complicated like that.

I was waiting for him to snap out of the act, stand up and tell the guy that he's a fuckin' moron.
Hell of an act from Safran... To make yourself look like such an idiot in front of heaps of people must be hard to do without laughing or giving away the fact that you are only acting.
That exorcist guy was seriously disturbed...

That ep was pretty full on!
He's usually on RRR every Mon morning and talks about the show, but I haven't listened for a while. Anybody caught what he had to say?
It's pretty obvious when he takes the piss, but he seemed really out of it- pretty authentic.
Still doesn't make me want to become in any way religious tho

It was piss funny I cant believe such crack pots can preach so called christianity. For such a skinny bloke though he did pretty well they had like five guys on him and at sometimes they couldnt control him. They were pretty ruff especially when he belted him in the gut witht the book. Hav ewatched all but one episode of the series highlight prob him goin to mormans houses and preaching aethism and then asking them if it was a problem that he disturbed them were they actually doing something.

Don't ya just hate that... It seems to happen too often. When you finally talk someone into sitting down to watch a show, it turns into the crappest one ever just to spite you.

FULL ON!! that was some crazy shit, I missed the 1st 2minutes of the episode, so I thought I might have missed him explaining WTF it was all about, the camera guy even said it was unlike John.
Hmmmmm I dunno it was pretty impressive if he was acting, but then again he has to pretend to all these religions that he's serious about joining or whatever. He sure knows how to prove a point though.

I loved this series, and his old series as well. He's a damn good actor, very witty and intelligent too.
He really does show us how stupid people are.

All interviews that i've heard him in he's claimed that he only remembered the first couple of minutes of each session. He's not sure if he was hypnotised, exorcised or something else that he can't explain. Pretty damn weird.
My favourite John Safran moment was when he drove that remote controlled seagull with a cigarette in its beak out on the MCG and circled Shane Warne during a test match. It was about 3 years ago when Warnie was being sponsored by QUIT.

the series is finished now but was on SBS at 830pm on monday nights. John safran is one mighty ballsy guy, he will give anything a go and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes nuts in the next couple of years, there only so many times you can witness people in raw goats testicles before you start to develop issues

lol...
I really wouldn't be surprised if he was hypnotised earlier on while the camera's weren't rolling. Like the exorcist may have insisted he have a few minutes alone with John and hypnotise him with something like "If I touch you on the head or say a certain thing you will get very agressive and the tighter the guys hold you, the more agressive you will get" or some shit.

I listened to him on Triple J on Saturday, he said he could only remember being quote "lulled" at the beginning of his sessions, but can't remember going crazy. He was there for 4 days so they didn't show heaps of footage, because it's a long process apparently. He also had to write pages and pages of history and all the skeletons in his closet. He said it was very personal and all the camera crew and all that treated him very differently, like when everyone goes quiet when you say "I like to finger my arse" or something. Anyway it was all legit i think, but its not on tonight. damn!
