4AGE Head 4AGZE Block: Where's the thermostat housing??

I'm trying to figure out if I have a thermostat housing on the car, it's got the 4agze block with the 4age head, but I can seem to see the thermostat housing, how does it look like? As the engine is not warming up and I want to figure if the thermostat is faulty, or is it non-existant?

two options:
# If you have the RWD water pump, its in the rear housing of the water pump
# If you have the FWD water pump, its in the remote thermostat housing on top of the gearbox.. or somewhere else if its a custom remote thermostat mounting.

no my friend thats not it
as henn said..
look at your bottom rad hose..follow as far as you can..IF you see some sort of metal housing with the heater pipes and rad hoses going in and out, that is your remote thermostat housing..she will be in there
or if you put a RWD water pump in it its in that.

You have an FWD pump. That outlet is the FWD one, and im pretty sure you cant fit a rwd pump to a GZE because it hits the supercharger.
Anyway, look ontop of the gearbox.
*points that way* YARRR

Hi there, but I don't have a supercharger on, but what pictures should I post to make identification easier?

sorry but correct me if i'm wrong..but the angle of that rad hose makes me think that it is in a RWD setup..that info would clear up a fair bit of confusion!

follow that big metal pipe thats attatched to the rear water pump housing your yellow arrow is pointing at. it will run along the rear of your block then have a heater hose coupling that is onto the thermastat housing that should be sitting on top of your gearbox like the others have told you.

Avast, you dont have one. Actually you dont even have a supercharger.
Well maybe you have a thermostat, but the supercharger normally mounts to where the alternator is.
Guessing from your nick the engine is to be turboed, so using the gze block for that. Well if you have a rwd pump the thermostat is likely to be onthe top water outlet, but the top water outlet (front of head) looks suspiciously like a 100kw (fwd) version. Which leads me to the conclusion that some dodgy bum has removed the thermostat.
The rear water outlet is nowhere near where the thermostat woudl be. And avast i see firewall and heater hose piping there. Im guessing its in an AE86 without a thermostat.

ok I've just checked, the top radiator hose goes to the engine as shown in the first pic in the post (1), then the other end heads to a T-piece (2) which goes to the turbo & heater tap thing, then the return line of the turbo & heater goes back to the back of the engine where the temp sensor is (only 1 sensor was used?)
then the bottom radiator hose just goes straight to the water pump...
so how should I fit this thermostat housing? should I cut through (1) & (2) and connect to the top & left of the housing, then cut through the bottom radiator hose and connect to the thermostat housing?

yeah that is just my dodgy little guide of making FWD 4age water pumps work in RWD with a remote thermostat housing.
Basically for you, copy what i have done, just T your turbo water line into the hose going from the thermostat housing to the heater core (the one with the dodgy pipe section) and then have the return going to the same place.
Easy peasy.
