Slight problem (again, sigh)
When i purcahsed my ta22, the fuel cap was sitting up in it, so i naturally pushed it back in (not realising i just locked it) and i dont have a petrol cap key to fit it, which means i cant get the little sucker out, which means i finally get the sucker going, he will be out of fuel
any suggestions or so forth before i have to call in the locksmith?

mine is the 72 aswell and i got the old cap off took it up to my car store up the road and they measured it up and said it should fit if and to take it back if it doesnt, the brand of cap is called pro-kit petrol locking cap..its black in colour and made out of plastic. the key works well its pretty small but it still does the trick..
let me know how u get on with it.

Most old Toyotas had pretty average lock/key combos, i.e. my corolla key could open my friends RA23, he could open my car, and I could open other friends early 70's corollas too.
So I would recommend trying some random toyota keys before busting the cap
Or alternatively find some derro thief and get them to use there wizardry to open it (tell them they can have a sip of the fuel once they open it as reward for their efforts )

my old celica could be opened with any toyota key even a flat screwdriver that was thin like a key that slot fully as deep as a key would go..

is the cap anything like that?

if u can get any room to poke the metal teeth down do that then just wedge a screw driver or something like that under the fuel cap lid bit and try and pop it out.. it worked pretty well for me and it didnt do any damage to the car.
