7MGTE bellhousing on a 1JZ...

Has anyone had experience with fitting a R154(7MGTE bellhousing) onto a 1JZ with adaptor plates etc ?
Would it be worthwhile to buy the box for say...$1200, and then either get an adaptor plate, or buy a whole new bellhousing (if one can be found) ? Or should I just hang out for an R154 with a 1JZ bellhousing....
Cheers

I'm not sure if the 1UZ and the 1JZ have the same engine bolts. In one of the for sale bits there is a post from Manny saying that he's selling a conversion kit for 1JZ/2JZ/1UZ so I'm guessing from that.
My bellhousing from my R154 to 1UZ is costing $425 from carbontech (www.carbontech.com.au). With that I can use my current clutch (thankfully, as its a great clutch), but I've gotta get my own fly wheel made up (some time next week). Mention me when you talk to Nick and he might be more helpful.

Why screw around with bodgy adaptor plates when there is a factory bellhousing available? Do the job properly man, buy a 1JZ box.

If I can find a 1JZ R154 in my price range I will. As everyone knows though, they are as rare as rocking horse shit. Yes there is one for sale down in NSW, he wants $1700 for the box and clutch and flywheel. It may be a good deal, but at the moment with the money I have its just out of my price range. If I could get the box just by itself I would buy it, but at the moment he isnt seperating.
Like I said, I found a R154 with a 7M for $1200. If its goona be too exxy/hassle to put it on a 1JZ, then I wont bother.

By the time you eff around with custom stuff, you'll be well over 1700 total price with tonnes of grief. Spend the extra 500 and sleep confidently knowing it fits straight up. Too easy.

Well if you want to go the custom route, I have a JZ series auto bellhousing here. How's $100 sound? You pay freight/postage (probably $20). Then you get an engineer to cut and shut the M and JZ bellhousings (sacrilegious - you can't believe how much it would hurt to see a 7M-R154 bellhousing getting cut). I can't help you with flywheel but possibly later on you could find one or get one copied.
The best option remains the designated JZ-R154 bellhousing though.
