just trying to find out what the redline is on a 3tgteu,as I have new gauges and want to mark the taco,and also get my fully sik 12" shift light tuned

The factory ecu doesn't have a rev limiter..
Mine quite happily revs to 7500 or so.

Aww c'mon... red lines are for sissys 
Just put the boot in and when you hear some valve bounce you know you're revving it hard enough.

Somewhere under the Carina details on Matti's site is a picture of his dash. Will give you the factory orange/redline for the motor. I would go and look at my dash for you, but it is in a box somewhere.

Thanks very much Callum,I have skiped past that site before and didnt realise how informative it was..It seems that the engine makes peak power around 5800rpm and has a redline between 7-7500...Im really glad I got a 280km speedo now, seeing he is getting 240kph out of the thing...good times ahead

The picture I'm referring to is not as helpful as I thought (site was down when I posted the link), fairly certain the factory redline is around 6,500. If you still have standard pistons (Matti was running forgies), I wouldn't go too far past that. Will try to have a look for you tonight.
