I have seen one here in brisbane and it looked sexy so i am looking around to buy one.
Anyone know a good site with info on them that is in english.
Are they front or rear wheel drive?
They have the 4age engine?
What sorta price should i expect to pay for one?
Thanx.

ok dude... from what i know.....
AE101 GT apex levin: 4age 20 valve silvertop FRONT wheel drive
has only recently be approved for comlpiance in australia, and would probably be around $18-19k from an importer (only few have them). yeah it has all the gimmickery and they're sexy, but is it worth that pricetag??? would be cheaper getting an ae92 sx and converting it to a 20V for the performance.

the ONLY RWD corolla is the AE86, known as the sprinter. otherwise they are all FWD except for the KE series (old).so an ae92 will always be FWD
ae92 levin GTZ uses the 4agze supercharged 1.6L twincam 16valve. the bonnet scoop is to push air onto the top-mounted intercooler
difference between levin and trueno these days is basically a few little modcon features, and the trueno has pop-up headlights and the levin is normal headlights. also depending on the model of trueno/levin it could have either the 4agze, or the black or silver top 20V variants.
ae92 engines: 4afc, 4age, 4agze
ae101 engines: 7afe, 4age silvertop 20v, 4agze
ae111 engines: 4age blacktop 20V
look at the article page here at toymods...

You can add the blacktop 20V to that list, the very last of 10# model had them.

I own a ae101 Levin GTZ
Here's what it looks like at the moment..
http://www.toyspeed.org.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1 840
It's getting painted blue next week
The only major differences between the ae101 truenos and levins are they have different front and rear lights and the levins have a grill.
Goto my site for more info..
http://homepages.inspire.net.nz/~tan
And check out my links, there's tons of info on them

I've been looking into getting an AE101 Levin too. What I really want is the GT-Z version, but I'm pretty sure there are none in Australia (yet... ). I'm going to see a guy in Sydney for a test drive of a 20V next week. He's the only guy in Sydney (maybe Australia?) who can compliance them, & he's got a couple for sale. I'll keep you posted on what I find out. Sure, the 20V won't be as quick as the GT-Z, but it'll feel like a rocket compared to my 4A-FE!
Gary Bloggs Motors in Granville had a 20V for sale back in July for $18,990, which I reckon is a rip-off. I could import a GT-Z (with standard LSD, ABS, nice interior) myself through J-spec Imports for $10,000, then pay the $4000 for compliance.
I'm tossing up whether to go this way, or get an AE92 SX & do the 4AGZE + LSD conversion, but I'm not mechanically brave enough (i.e. knowledgeable) to do it myself.
The Levin sure looks damn nice though...

$18,990 damn!!!!
I paid $8700 NZD for my GTZ a couple of years ago, factory momo wheel, tom's front kit, apexi exhaust....
ae101 20v's here go for as cheap as $5000
Why not try importing one from here?

New Zealand - the lucky country...
Wish we had import laws like that here in Oz. The problem with importing cars here is all the taxes & compliance to ADRs (Australian Design Rules). It's actually cheaper to buy a car from auction in Japan (like through J-Spec) - you can get a low km GT-Z for $2000-6000, but then auction agent fees, shipping costs, import duty, GST, & compliance adds another $8000-10,000 or so. And importing from New Zealand is no cheaper (except maybe shipping), cos' you still have to pay all the import crap.

helmann you can't legally import an ae92 GTZ nor get it registered/complied over here (no one holds the compliance for these (if anyone out there knows otherwise happy to be corrected)
i had a supercharged ae92 levin gtz - indeed it had the scoop and the GZE went very very very well. alas i could not get it on the road legally so it was sold.
its now in two pieces
