Few Questions about 1ggte Thu, 21 October 2004 04:13 Go to next message
Hey guys
i'm new to this forum i have done a bit of a search but haven't come up with much, i'm importing a 88 GX 81 chaser with a 1ggte in it for drifting. i have some goodies to go on the car and my questions are:

at what point does the AFM on the 1ggte run in to troubles??
also how much power can the standard injectors make.

i already have management sorted for the car. i have an HKS t300 going on as well as intercooler etc. just these are the unknowns to me.

sorry for the long post
Cheers

Define AFM running into troubles? It won't. It is a restriction right from the word go, but it wont really run into troubles unless you want a crazy power output.

The injectors will be okay for around 180-200rwkw, but I'd say by then you'd be really pushing them. A set of 7MGTE injectors will be ample, but you'd really need a programmable ECU.

Ok one word to describe the stock 1ggte AFM, SHIT. It manages fine with the twin turbos, and still works fine with a smaller single turbo, but if you put a larger size turbo on it, with the quest for a high power output, the AFM absolutly shits itself at to low boost and rpm and you get the dredded fuel cut. Don't ask me what air characteristics make this happen with the fitment of a big single turbo, it just does, thus it means you have to utilise a map sensed aftermarket management to get your car to actually rev over 4000rpm.

toy77 seams too run fine, has run a 12.5 with standard comp, inj, and afm, with pretty much just a single turbo conversion, revs well past 4000rpm.

The only reason it wouldn't rev over 4K would be fuel cut. Just understand it and work around it. Find out the point where it occours and build your engine to make the most of it...

I think you can get a little over 15 PSI with a stock setup before it occours?

Tim.

I have the manangment issues sorted i'm using an emanage, the question about the AFM is will it be able to measure 200rwkw worth of flow?
190-200rwkw is about my target as the car is for drift and i dont want any more power than that Shocked .

i think i will look into the 7m injectors as i might be able to get a set fairly cheap. i was also going to replace the standard fuel pump with a walbro pump, so i dont have issues there.
Cheers
