hahaha yeah places i've tried only have crappy scap shit, want to find a place that sells nice new stuff. have to wait to the weekend when dad brings the lap top home its got a program on there of every business in australia, see if it can tell me anything.

also anyone know what i can treat the metal with to prevent rust but so its still able to be welded on at a later date, or would i have no choice and have to sand the rust protection off it before the weld?

Just splash some rust convertor over it! Wont rust then!
Just remember not to breath in when welding it!

Oil or grease. Wipe it off with some solvent when you're ready to weld.
