which brand of shocks to use?? Fri, 22 October 2004 07:19 Go to next message

I am replacing all the shocks in my ra60 celica. I was wondering if anyone has any idea for which brand of shocks i should buy.

I woanted to get KYB's for my rona but they dont make them I got MOnroe GT gas ones from auto one for $65 ecah, they tried to order kyb's that didn't exist and hence had to go back and then got the monroe's for the same price which are worth are 135 each. Auto One regualrly has 45% of shocks so I would go to them. It was well worth it for me in the long run

Yeah Monroe GT Gas shocks are very good.

Some say that pedders shocks are slightly better but not worth it for the price difference.

Good Luck

Please don't get Monroe or Pedders unless you REALLY can't find anything else.

I had the monroes in for a couple of months and have had no probs with them. They are the new gt gas with twin disc technology and when tested by motor showed great advances over the stock monroes fitted to a commodore, so I wouldn't say they were shit.

The Monroe's just aren't serious enough to be a decent shock, and don't tend to last very long when pushed hard.

For the front, you'd definetly be able to find something like KYB, Tokico, from the States most likely.

As for the rear, thats where it'd get a bit sketchy, but there is bound to be something you can adapt.

I'd only be going Monroe's if you REALLY really can't find anything else, and if you're willing to settle for the Monroe's, you probably won't be driving the car hard enough to keep looking Very Happy

the rears on mine are KYB and even though they dont make shocks for my car when they ordered the ones off a crown by accident, the rears of a crown were exactly the same as the corona, they $65
