I think I have just nearly broken my wrist

and now I have a big hole in the filter thanks to my screwdriver effort that didn't work anyway

got a claw? I will come borrow if you wanna lend

How about instead of puncturing a hole through the filter, try tapping with a screwdriver and a hammer on the metal lip in the direction that unscrews it.

This worked for me, slowly tapping away, no mess no fuss.

ok guys got it off!

went to repco got the tool I needed.. which didn't work... so got a rubber glove and stuck that over the filter so the tool would grab.. and she came loose w00t!
