Yeah if you think k&n has lots of sizes / shapes , you should look at : www.simota.com . As you can also see they flow better than k&n and other brands , which pisses me off a bit as i just brought a new k&n one Sad .

Most common measurement for cone / pod filters is mounting 77mm , x 130mm wide x 110mm high .

that's the strange thing, because I notice K&N makes some huge filters whereas those HKS & Apexi pod filters are comparatively much smaller??

but k&n is specialised in filters

i also read an article on webber carbs. they did an airflow measurement and air flow was better with k&n filters compared with no filter at all!! i believe k&n got things figured out

but then those Apexi & HKS should be selling some "performance" stuff the price they're charging!

that would be hard to believe! breathing through nothing actually is more restrictive compared to breathing through a filter? Shocked

i guess it comes down to the pattern of the air flow. Maybe with a k&n filter u get a more swirling effect on the air?? That book did not write about other filters, coz i guess k&n is about the only company that makes filters for webber carbs!

I asked Revolution Racegear about this when I bought mine over a year ago. I got the second-largest conical cone filter that K&N produced. They said that typically the larger the filter to be used, the high horsepower application it's designed for. Mine was for up to 300hp which now suits my application down to the ground. Very Happy When I had a 3S-FE in my ride, all you could hear from the engine bay was the roar of the CAI and the pod filter. Everyone thought I did something to the exhaust system because the roar was that deep and beefy. Razz Added a LOT more pep to the little 3S-FE though. Nod
