st162 jumpy in low rpm acceleration Sun, 24 October 2004 01:50 Go to next message
i drive a 1988 celica sx (st162), and my car is sometimes jumpy like theres no combustion when im accelerating at low rpm (less than 2000)

also sometimes when im at idle, and i put my foot on the accelerator, the car stalls?

is this a problem of the car just not getting enough air, or an idle control issue, or the car not getting enough fuel?

Thanks for any help

// Matt

Mine was doing this when i had a tear in the intake hose between the AFM and the plenum, the engine movement would open up the tear and bypass the AFM causing the engine to thing it was getting no air and stall!
