Changing comp/exhast wheels & balancing? Sat, 25 May 2002 00:28 Go to next message
When changing compressor or exhaust turbines will the turbo need to be balanced to compensate for any change in weight/size from the non standard wheels.
Also I read about someone using CT12 (the small 1ggte turbos) exhaust turbines in the CT12A turbo's! so they can run more boost!
Dose this sound right? They said that the CT12 exhaust turbines were steel??Is that right?
Would you think that set up would increase performance?
Anybody done it????

Cheers

Thank found all the info. Long post!!

Those twin pipes looked good. celicamad said he was fabricating them for 1j's for $400.
Has any body been able to fit these strait onto a 1ggte in an MA70 supra, I will be using 1j turbos & the exhaust will be changed so if these twin pipe units clear the everything on a 1ggte in an MA70 supra it sounds like a good buy.

Cheers

the twin pipe set up cant be done on the 1g as there is not enough room, & by looking at it is not as resricted as 1j anyway there for not as effective, the only way to do it on the 1g would be make new manifolds for the turbos & if your going to go to this much trouble you may as well be bolting on a couple of bigger turbos to make it all worth while

I want to keep the stnd ecu from the 1ggte so I thought the 1jz turbos wouldn't be too much out of the standard but give better performance.

How much of a bigger turbo could one use on a stnd ecu such as this before problems start to occur, give that exhaust, injectors and fuel lines are upgraded to suit.

Cheers
