Fitting Rear Jap Spec Differential on AE86

Hello ppl,
Just a quick question ... my AE86 is undergoing a 4AGE transformation at the moment. In fitting the rear Jap spec differential with disc brakes I've just found out the hand brake cables for the original drum rear diff isn't quite the same as the Jap spec Disc brake rear diff.
I always thought they were the same length. Does anyone have any information on how to get around this apart from getting a Toyota OEM part or getting one custom made?
Thanks!

ae82 twin cam might do it. as might aw11/sw20, ra45gt etc....
the "factory ae86" disk ones are available - think they are the same as st165 celica ones.

Hi T, are you speaking of experience? Coz I'm after one too, if the ae82 fits, I'll get a pair! Which AE82 would fit? The drums or the disc rear end?

they are worth less than $400 but most people will ask for more than $1000 because they're but they're (the diff, not the ) rare, so good luck in finding one...
so anyone can confirm the handbrake cable?

handbrake cables have to bee off a disk-brake car. also believe pintara ones are identical to ae86 ones.

but the problem with the wreckers I go to, they usually want $70 for each cable (AE86), which is what Toyota charge for a brand new cable from Japan for the AE86 rear disc diff anyway! Any luck with other cheaper wreckers? Maybe I should try the Pintara ones as they're cheaper less demanding cars?
