4A-GE or 4A-GZE Prices.... Thu, 03 October 2002 02:03 Go to next message
I own a AE86 and love it to bits but some more power would be nice Smile Not heaps just a bit more! Does anyone know what a conversion from a 4A-C to a 4A-GE or 4A-GZE will cost me?

ok dude... problem here lies with the fact that the 4agze only ever cam in a transverse configuration... hence to make it RWD would require a fair few mods.

the 86kW 4a-ge DID come in a RWD variant, so that would be cheapest and easiest to convert. however if u are getting someone else to do it i have no idea what it will cost you?
a RWD 4age should cost around $1200 with g/box and ECU and loom
a 4agze with ecu and loom will cost around $1500-2000 depending on the place and variant of the 4agze.

fitting costs i have no idea

You may find though that a Red Top, 20V or 4AGZE engine are the only available choices to you.

The Blue Top RWD 4AGE motor is hard to find in good condition these days & many wreckers don't touch them as there are later 4AG engines available and these are an 18 yr old engine with high milege in most cases.

Don't forget that apart from fitting in the engine, there's also more $$$ thrown at braking, fuel system, aftermarket computer, cooling (if 4AGZE), exhaust etc.

Budget around $6K including parts & labour if you're getting someone else to do it and you can't go wrong ... I think ... Smile
