shifter linkages?

I am considering running a 1G and lexus six speed in my next project, however, the shifter is very much in the wrong place. It sits on a shifter extension much the same as the V160 or JZA80 W58 and henceforth is about 4 or so inches too far back for my shifter position, I was wondering if anyone knows how hard it is or how expensive it is to have some sort of custom shifter linkage made that brings the stick back to above the hole on the gearbox, much the same as an MA61 shift position.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

You could look into the shifter housings for the 200SX S2000 and MX5. They use practically the same box, potentially they may have an interchangable housing that's more to your needs.

hmmm, good idea, my only fear is that locating one from one of those cars will be quite costly. maybe i can swap one at a wrecker or something.
