I just like to hear form 1G owner with aftemarket ecu..I am wondering if it worth putting an aftermarket computer on a stock 1ggte. The engine has got a cooler and full 3"inch exaust and will be running 15psi.. with Hiperboost controller.. Now i like to know if its worth forking out that much cash for an ECU. How much more power can u yield out of them with the aftermarket ECU and what are the real benefits in my case..

My other solution is to get a HKS PFC F-CON for my car to help with the mixtures when it been boosted.. Since they run rich as is...This is only going to cost me $250 buck versus $1800 for the Wolf3d..

Help anyone

I am just contemplating things as all the mods so far have not been what i expected apart from the Hiperboost controller...i haven't installed it yet..

Thanks peoples...for lisening to my wining

If you plan to leave it stock, leave the stock ECU

If you want more power, single turbo, bigger injectors, you will need a programable ecu.

Probably not.
You may squeeze a little more power out, but you will prolly sacrifice a bit of the factory cold start niceness.

I'd say stick with the factory ecu.

But wait for someone with a 1ggte to answer.

i'm running an EMS dualsport ecu on my 1g (along with coilpacks). I can't really say if it's better than the stock ecu because i've only driven the 1g with the EMS.

the only problems i've encountered is some issues with coldsart, but other than that it's all good.

Obviously, it's gonna depend on what you're setting out to achieve. If you want it for the sake of tuneability, go for it. If you're want it for moer power gains, you might wanna try and exhaust some other options before you opt for an ECU.

It depends. The benefit you'll get from the ECU will not be so much in peak power as in general responsiveness and extra power everywhere. You have to set yourself a power level you want to achieve, then it may be best to come back with that figure 'x' and work out what other things could get you over that line.

Which version of the engine do you have? The Gen2 ones always seem to put out less power than the Gen3's, a lot of that must be due to the ECU as there isn't a great deal of differences.

As said before though, it'd take a long time to get the cold start as nice as the factory one, but with patience it should happen.
