installing external wastegate

Hi,
I have never had an external wastegate before and I don't know where exactly the pipes have to go to. I understand where it mounts and then the exhaust flow out of it. And I have read that it is controlled via a spring in it.
here it is:

so there are two places for pipes to go. where do these go? I am not sure how I am going to run my boost control now as I have a Hiperboost wastegate and boost control system but I got a boost control solenoid to work with my Wold 3d ECU. How should I set this up?
thanks
Chris

Chris...
The one with the pipe on it is the outlet...
The one with four studs goes to the manifold... It's the inlet.. the valve inside there moves upwards towards the allyo section and release gas through the outlet pipe...
It should bolt straight onto the manifold... if you haven't got it then the exhaust shop making it will know anyways...
I think you may be referring to the bleed pipes... you'll need to consult your setup drawing for the boost controller to work this out.. it depends how they work... more then likely you will jsut connect the bottom one up... IE not in the end of the gate... This will open the gate when boost is put through it...
If you have a good electronic valve you can connect it using both lines... I won't go into the basics behind this now, but you need to feed boost to both pipes, and have the three port solenoid inline with the top pipe this time...
When solenoid isn't activated the boost should be seen on both pipe, but when it is activated it should vent the top gate pipe to atmosphere.. opening the gate...

Yeah thanks Steve It was good to have the use of your car for a few hours to get the setup spot on . Although Stuey can actually take credit for the final setup .
Ive setup a few externals since then and we can fit and tune in 30 mins MAX
Chris in regard to boost controller setup for external its realy quite simple to setup . Im pretty sure The controller you have is a slighlty older model before we went to the cased Model
see new model below

Your model works just as good but was a little more difficult to setup on external .It will require a few fitting for external setup
The new model has 1 compresor input and two wastgate outputs
so for twin turbo you simply plug everything in to the controller .
And for external you tee off your pressure line . Then put the wastegate control on the bottom input to the external wastegate
(the top fitiing in your picture)
Then fit the Boost Contoller to the top input .
This will give you perfect boost control with the ability to bring the boost on MUCH faster. And still have in cabin control with no spikes
In dcving the differnce was a LOT .Steve may be able to explain the actual differnce .
So if you contact me on 0425 750038 or sales@hiperboost.com
Insturctions will be available for dowload on the webpage very soon www.hiperboost.com
i will upgrade to the new model for you NO CHARGE !!
Otherwise i can supply external wastgate setup instructions and additional fittings
Cheers Paul
PS what turbo are you going to fit

Thanks Paul.
I have a HKS Ta45s kit made for a jza70 but it just fits in my car. However, I will be loosing the sleeper look as I need a bonnet scoop because the bonnet won't close otherwise
Your plan sounds good but I was wondering if I could use the wastegate control from the hiperboost and my boost solenoid for my Wolf so that the ECU can control the amount of boost and I can just dial in the wastegate control. Is this possible?
So Dcving: did you go from a standard external gate setup to the hiperboost controller or was this the first time setting up? how did it go with the external gate setup?
thanks
Chris
P.S I will give you a ring Paul.

i basically had mine origanally set up as per factory, with a cheap bleed type valve. it done the job and work reasonably well for $50.
my car was reasonable laggy, i was only really getting on song, then either the boost would spike and hit boost cut, or the rev limiter would cut in, now with the hyper boost, the boost comes on much harder, there for being on max boost, a lot qicker and longer, and the boost gauge dosnt budge off the set 17psi
i cant really say much more about it that hasnt been said already all over these forums, its a fucking good thing, and im shaw ill reap the full rewards when my car is tuned properly, with more boost dialed in.
