Upgrading CT12s from a GA70 Wed, 27 October 2004 21:05 Go to next message
What do You think about changing the compressor wheels from the twin ct12s in a GA70 for a bigger wheels with stock turbine wheels ?

Actually the car runs fine at 14psi with stock internals and stock twins. I like how to look the engine bay so, I want to gain just 80-100HPs at 14-17psi with upgraded compressor wheels, may be from a Garrett T3, TD04 9b, CT12A ?

I was checking compressor maps to obtain 60% efficiency and 2.0 compress relation. I think that a compressor with 20lib/min can be the best choice. Do you know the shaft size of these compressors ? the CT12s are 3mmm.

At 4000 rpm and 10psi the turbos kicks nicely, I want approach a bigger kick, if this possible, at lower RPMs with stock turbine...

The main problem with CT12's is the teeny-weeny exhaust housing - they just can't flow enough gas to make more than 250hp or so. Upgrading the compressor wheel isn't going to make enough of a difference to justify the expense IMO.
