I assume OEM ECU would idle it about 600-800rpm, but what about aftermarket ECU? I'm having mine running around 1300rpm, and aren't too happy about it, especially it seems to raise the water temp. so quickly, these couple of weeks the water's always sitting above 90 degrees when I have to stop at few sets of lights! Any solutions?

check the radiator fans to make sure they are kicking in, coz even if running higher idle speed the water temp should stay fairly stable cept the fans will kick in more often

What direction is your coolant flow to the radiator? is your thermostat working within spec?

I've blown the thermo-switch, so am just turning the fan on at around 90c, how many radiator fans do you use on your radiator? Coz I only have 1 fan running..

I assume it's working because the water in the heater doesn't heat up until it's above 82c, I think the flow is correct, hot water return to the top of the radiator and cold water goes from bottom to the water pump, but I'll check tomorrow to see where the water pump pumps the water to, I hope it's the head (that's correct right?)

Hi Jason, is that with OEM computer or aftermarket?? If aftermarket, how did you manage to control the idle?

oem computer... so I have no idea how you would control it with an aftermarket ecu... the oem ecu controls the idle speed...

I think there's something called Idle Speed Control Valve (ISCV) or something which you probably had connected to your original ECU, I think that's what controls the air leak pass the throttle body, I wonder if that can be controlled somehow by a var-pot or something, coz I assume mine's not connected... (but then I don't know if this "valve" is electronically controlled, or not...)

anyone with a 20v with an after market computer that is idling normally? Razz
