anyone heard of a 5x114.3 rim with more than 50 offset, in aid of getting a narrower track. Google searches turned up 50 at a glance....

The main one is Subaru, but they are 5 x 100.
Some Supras have +50, but 55 is the highest that I have seen. I have a wheel and rim book at work, and will have a quick glance in their tomorrow when I get a chance

You are on the right path, but it depends with what offset you start with. But from a base of zero, the answer is yes.
From a QUICK scan of the book, cars with 5 x 114.3 and offset around the +50 mark ;
Daewoo Leganza, Some mazda 626, SOme lexus and the only one I found with MORE than +50, was the Eunos 800 at +55.
But all of this won't help if the centre bore is wrong.
What are you actually trying to do ?

Theoretical guestimate of if i could get away with not shortening a diff.
ie standard corona rt40 track is 1270 (1210 diff, 30 offset)
therefore rn1x or rn2x 1370mm diff -50 -50 = bingo 1270 i think
I do have a disc brake f series diff but this is alot wider at 1470 I think it is, which would mean i could only get down to 1370 and have a 50mm each side track increase, which the gaurds would not like..
I think im on the right track...
Probably going to have to make custom hubs at the front anyway so not worring about that... yet..

Are you sure on the factory RT40 offset? Seems odd to be that negative. I know one of my cars has a zero offset and is very unusual for a factory car (fun trying to find wheels). If that 30 neg is meant to be 30 pos then you would have a diff width of 1330 and would fit with your 50 pos wheels on a 1370 diff. Biggest thing to consider is how much space you have for the inner and outer guards, width is just as important as offset. Remember if you compare a 7 inch 50+ offset wheel to a 9 inch 50+ offset wheel, the track will be the same but you have an inch extra of rim each way. If you are limited in outward movement but have space inwards you would need to run a 75+ 9inch rim to keep the outer edge in the same place.

Well I was going by info from Stepho, a quick measurement of the diff yeilded about 1200 and the track is supossidly 1270...
hope you dont mind stepho...
----------
I don't have the figures for the straight RT40 but the rear track is
listed as 1270mm for all the 4#/5# Coronas I have figures for
(RT41,50,51,53,55).
I don't know the offset of the Toyota rims but a typical value used by
many other Toyotas was 29mm to 32mm.
So that means the most likely value of the RT40 hub to hub (where the
wheel bolts to the brake drum) is 1270-30-30=1210mm.
