I have a '91 MX83 Cressida and when the car is idling in park and you use something electrical like the windows, the revs drop.

What could be the problem? Is this a common thing? Is it just that the timing is out?

Just 2 more things - (1) she seems to have a "flat" spot during acceleration and (2) if you're cruising at say 100k's and you let your foot off the accelerator, the speed drops abruptly for a second or 2, before starting its gradual decline. I'm wondering whether all these problems are intertwined somehow? I changed the spark plugs (NGK Laser Platinum) and things don't seem to have changed much.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It is normal for the engine to drop in revs, only slightly, when you use the headlights or power windows or something.

If the engine has a flat spot, remove the injectors and get them serviced at some place, like at a Bosch dealer. I can't garantee that will fix it, but its a good place to start, and worth doing on a older engine. To test, you can try clamping the fuel return line and rev the motor to see if the flat spot disapears. The increase fuel pressure should be enough to get past the bad injectors.
