Removing Bump Strips

I'm removing the bump strips on my car at the moment. What is the best way to fill the holes left? Should I just bog over them and make sure they are done properly?

Personally I wouldn't do it if there was holes underneath...
But I think that ppl just bog the holes up and yes, make sure they are done properly as you said...

Dude, whatever you do, don't bog.
To my knowledge, the compound bog is made of has tiny molecular lattice level spaces that can encapsulate water molecules. So basically, bog absorbs water and would lead to rust around the bog (that is why bog is never a solution to rust). What I would recomend is some fibreglass resin or something similar that doesn't absorb water.
Cheers

BOG IS BAD!!!! for that purpose anyway. if you can get to the back of the panel easily a small sheet of fiberglass is the go, if access is a bit harder (but you can still get a finger to the back of the hole) then use a fiberglass reinforced body filler. if you cannot access the back of the hole at all then it becomes tricky, you need a small piece of mesh or anything you can physically fit into the hole thats not absorbent that you can also attach a bit of fine wire to. Then jam it thru the hole squeeeze some fibreglass body filler in and pull the wire to squish the filler out at the back to make it strong!.
its time consuming but when done properly a loud stereo cant budge it

Or do what the hot rod boys would do and go for a file finish by welding the holes up, but the fibreglass idea is a good one. A friend of mine has done a fair amount of his L300 van in fibreglass..........

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I think I will follow up the ones with the fibreglass and the welding, check how hard they will be each. Will steer clear of the bog. Might just have to pass on the speed holes option though

When removing sticky shit: never look past wax and polish remover: it has been extreemly helpful in stripping my car. I took the left over rubber sealant off the chassis around the rear 1/4 glass.
I'm pretty sure I used it to remove the glue when I took the bump strips of the 86 (only glued on ). and the pin stripes (along with a scalple ) tho you will need to polish the spot again:
AND
as soon as you rub the wax and polish remover on, you need to rub it off. YOU don't want to leave any residue. This is VERY important.
Note: cause I was painting my doors, I cannot tell you if there were any long term effects. I'm sure someone else will know.
or you could " find a spot behind a bumper and check..."

And I second SPEED HOLES makes you go faster, trust Homer Simpson less wieght after all

I pulled the bump strips off my 82 and yeh there was hell glue crap left i used turps a hair dryer and a plastic dish washing scourer in this method : dab on turps, heat and rub with plastic scourer, took about 2 hours to do the whole car.

The worst news of all is that after you go to the trouble of removing the pin stripes and/or pumbstrips, because they have been on the car for so long, you will have a 'un-faded' section where the stripes use to be.
This mainly affects non-prime colour cars, and your car may have been luckier than others.
The more I think about it, I used a scalple, wax and polish remover before sanding the panel. So maybe wax and polish remover was not as good as I thought
