Some specs on the car are on the sports sedan web site:
http://www.sportssedan.com.au/index.php
Go to driver profiles Cinefx/AVO
Basically, a destroked 7M with a T4,some internal mods, cylinder head and camshaft mods. Intake and exhaust system all custom made. Link plus engine management. To list all of the modifications to the car would take 10 pages and, as you might understand, I need to keep some of it to myself. It puts out an adequate amount of horsepower for circuit racing but is not at the front of the field. The chassis is standard and therefore cannot compete succesfully against the specialist space frame sports sedans that are 300kg lighter. Great fun though!!

Hi Laurie,
Great car and looks good too.
Great to see a 7M in there !!!
Understanding why some things are kep close to the chest, why and how much did you destroke it ? was it to get under a capacity limit issue ?
I'd love to see it in the flesh, so will have to try and see it at a race meeting.
I'll be in Melbourne from 11 to 15 Dec, are there any outings planned or can I drop by and see it ?
Cheers

Current Sports sedan regs stipulate a multiplying factor of 1.7 for forced induction PLUS 1.4 for multi-valve engines. Thus the 6 litre class is dominated by the ubiquitous 6 litre Chev. Engines under 2.5 litre are not subject to the multi-valve factor and I considered a change to a 1J. However, there is a proposal currently put forward to amend this situation and do away with the multi-valve factor altogether, to encourage a more diverse and up to date array of engine options. If this proposal is accepted by the Sports sedan associations next year, I will probably go to a 2J or maybe go Nissan. At the end of the day though, more horsepower does not necessarily lower lap times as much as chassis development, balance, grip and a multitude of other issues.

Chukster,
Car runs soarer IRS, nylon bushed and adjustable with Cusco 2 way LSD. This system is always a concern, particularly the inherent anti-squat geometry, and is an area for serious upgrade soon.

Sillycar,
Under 2 litre is probably more economical. Stick to go karts if you want thrills per dollar. (great fun too)
Typical running costs per meeting:
500 for entry and friday practice
200 for garage
200 for avgas
200 for accommodation (allow more for crew)
200 for food etc for driver and crew
650 for tyres (assuming 3 meetings per set if no damage or flat spots)
100 for tow vehicle fuel
90 for oil and filter change
Total= Not cheap even though this is budget level state racing.
Add more for constant development to race car and the occasional engine rebuild etc. Plus testing.
...Happy motor racing

I'd never build another standard chassis car. Maybe a spaceframe car with R32 body.

KRRRRRRRICKEY! now I understand why street machine mag is always warning people not to build a drag car for a class they can't afford to run ! ! !
(not that I read street machine)
I'm a bit over the Go-Kart thing. I run in the top half of the field with year-old tyres and a 3 year old kart, so I don't doubt I'd be quite competetive if I spent $3-4000 on a brand new kart, and bought tyres every 3 months.
Just that I'd rather put that sort of money into a sports sedan and running the Vic state series. Running costs could stop me though.
