icon5.gif  GZ20 Soarer yellow plug 26 Pin ECU??? WTF Sun, 31 October 2004 07:41 Go to next message
Hi am curious what versions did the GZ20 soarer come out with apart from gen 2. I am buying a HKS F-CON and it states its for a gz20 1ggte engine. I just want to make sure its for a gen2 ecu?? Also my Gen 2 ecu has yellow plugs but 26 Pin is this normal for a 88 GZ20 soarer. Will this be a problem?? Anyone can shed some light on this

I'd be going off the pins as opposed to the colour, Toyota changed small things like that on the whim of the engineer at the time. The number of pins would indicate it's a Gen3 ECU though.

Hi man, just checked a GenII Auto 1G-GTE ECU. My numbers match yours. And yep I pulled it from my halfcut, which was a 1989 GZ20 Soarer.

regards Chuck.

Same configuration as what you have. 26 - 16 - 22. If it has the same part no, it must be identical!

I also have a 3rd generation 1G-GTE ECU from a GA-70 Supra Manual, it has 24 pins.

regards Chuck.

Hey thanks for the info Chuck... but do you get it at all.. What da hell is going on with Toyota.. I mean a 26 pin Gen 2 ECU and a 24 pin Gen 3 ECU what gives..and does anybody know what those two extra pins are for....???

Do you think I could just plug in a Gen 3 ECU (26 pin) in my Soarer as I heard they have more aggressive tuning..??

Anybody knows..?? Would be helpful if I could get some opinions.

Look as far as I know my ECU is a Gen 2 how come i fouund this out ...1988 early 1989 didn't Gen 2 1GGTE stop …But the thing is I found this on e-bay:

This is a 1990 ECU out of Auto Supra with the same pins and same numbers as ours apart from the 2 instead of the tree on the last digit
_I guess its anybodies guess

By the way check out the 7MGGTE grey plug ECU (same as Gen 3 set-up) with the same numbers of pins as a Gen 3 ECU…so I guess its anybodies guess until I get some Gen 3 ECU Numbers
