AE86 radiators, what do you use? Mon, 01 November 2004 05:25 Go to next message
after finding a small crack in my rad..i decided to take a trip down to the wreckers with a tape mesure and get some sort of replacement..i found on a nissan shelf..a 3 core rad which a radiator place thinks is from an Urvan..bottom hose is good..and the top hose is on the other side..fortunatly supercheap..repco..etc stock a long S shape that goes straight on! $50 to flush/reco the rad..$50 for the rad in the first place..so $100 plus $20 for the hoses.. and i came away with a 3 core rad that literally holds three times the capacity of the old one..

what is the normal upgrade for 86's?

this has been covered pretty extensively. basically your gonna need to make custom brackets however you go so just go to the wreckers, find one that physically fits and is atleast twin core, and go from there.

hiace seems to work well...looks a little chunky but doesnt require much to fit apart from the brackets as evosti mentioned

I use the standard one that came with the 4AC, now running a 4age bigport it's only ever had problems cooling the engine after a day on the skidpan..

It's fine in the hills too!
