How to crack open 18R alternator?? Sat, 05 October 2002 06:03 Go to next message
I've taken all the bolts/screws out that i can see, but it doesn't want to open up and play!
I've got it to slide sideways, ie; the two halves can spin on the centre bit (black bit between the front and back section), but it doesn't want to come apart. What is needed to be done?

Thanks
Ben

I would do that except its worth a bit of money due to the plating etc...

Any other suggestions?

thanks

Nice alternator(never thought you would hear that.hehehe)try using a puller just wrap the claws with rags and use the hole in the shaft as the bit your pulling from. That is assuming that theres nothing else stopping it from coming off like Cir-clips and stuff like that. if it really wont budge go for Kiwi jakes option then hit it with a sledge hammer!!!!
