Dakota is a male Siberian huskie that is my dogs brother. He was
impounded 2 weeks ago and due to a mix up with the micro chipping he received the microchip that was intended for my dog.

I was informed that my dog was impounded but realised what had happened and forwarded the microchip details in my dog to the pound in the hopes that it would reunite him with his owner.

I have rung the pound to see how he was going but unfortunately the contact details for Dakotas microchip are no longer current and his original owner cannot be contacted. They also informed me that they can only keep him for the rest of the week and he is scheduled for euthanasia on Monday if a home cannot be found.

I am writing this in the hopes that if anyone has been considering getting a dog that they might consider Dakota as a possible choice. He is being held at:

Renbury Farm Animal Shelter
406 Bringelly Road, Austral.

You would most likely need to pay for a de-sexing operation as its common practice at pounds to de-sex animals before letting them free.

Im sure if you give them a call theyll be more than happy to give you the necessary details. Rachel is the person I have been speaking to there.

You can get further details at www.renbury.com.au, look under dogs impounded, bankstown council area, and Dakota is the dog of the week.

Man, if i was in Sydney i'd take him. Then i'd have two. A male and a female Very Happy

Dude if your able to claim him do it cause they're a great companion, very intelligent, very loving and social. But one down side is that they do love their freedom to wonder around. There's been more then once i've had to play seek the husky Very Happy

Thanks for looking, unfortunately I have 2 huskies already and would not be able to take him due to the size of my yard ( believe me I have checked into it with my council Sad )

I'm moving back in with my folks soon, so I'll have a chat to them and see what they say. This was one of the breeds on my 'next dog' list, along with Dachshunds and Staffies, if you can believe that! hahaha..... 2 of my mates have Huskies, and I love them to bits. Such a beautiful animal.

I have a mini smooth Dacshund and she is the best dog, I highly recommend them..

Could someone possibly take this dog temporarily?, just to keep him alive?

This wasn't possibly at Toyota Fest was it? I got some pics of my ultimate Dachshund - A miniature tan shorthair. Don't know who owned it, but it was just the best dog. I reckon it's tough to beat them as far as personality goes!

As for the huskie, still waiting for a response, but it doesn't look good. My current dog is very old and ill and probably wouldn't appreciate a boisterous huskie around in his final days Sad

I tried, and will keep trying though!

I would like to thank everyone for their help in this matter. I have been informed that one of my workmates friends has paid for him and will pick him up tommorow. He is going to a home where he will have a female huskie to play and get bizzay with hehehe!

It was a very happy ending to matter that was interfering with my sleep Rolling

Indian & dimmy77_03 can you please inform the forums you posted this thread on that he has found a home. Thanks heaps!

At the bottom left of your top post next to 'quote' it should say 'edit', click on this and change the title.

Glad to hear he found a good home. Unfortunately I had no luck convincing my folks (not even about some Dachshunds!), but alls well that ends well!
