hey guys i just have a quick question at the moment i have an 18rc with the shitty 3 speed auto am i right to assume that because the engine has to rev about 3600-3800 rpm on the freeway that my oil will be breaking down and burning like a mofo? would a simple ra40 4 speed auto fix this i only ask because its really bad like 4l oil every 400ks i dont want to kill the planet. Anyhow jsut so u know its not going manual because i plan on geting another car at christmas

Excessive oil consumption has nothing to do with revs... more likely your engine is just plain worn out and the oil control rings aren't doing their job properly any more. Your options are to rebuild or replace your engine.

agreed. my motor sits on 4500-5000rpm on the highway and barely chews any oil... maybe 1/2L between oil changes... and i know my rings are stuffed (blowby).

ps, to see if oil is breakign down, there will be white smoke coming out of the rocker breather, and the oil will turn black quickly..
tried a heavier weight oil? 25/60? 30/70?
