Hi,
I am trying to find a jza70 to buy but im having trouble finding one in the condition i want.
Im thinking about buying a jza70 frontcut and moving all the parts across to an ma70 or the 89 2L supra (forgetten code).
Both the original car and the front cut will be turbo and manual. How hard is this conversion to do? I have been quoted 4.2k for the front cut with manual and around 11k for immaculate 2l tt supra.
Am i better off starting with the ma70 or the 2L and does it make a difference? Will the brakes be a bolt in fit? Are the diff's of all 3 cars the same?
Also, if a jza70 is automatic, how hard is it to install a manual?
Sorry bout all the the questions but im ready to buy the car right now so i need answers to all these questions.
Thanks a lot guys.

1. Keep looking for a JZA70 or an already-converted MA70/GA70. Save yourself the headaches.
2. Having said that, the conversion is very easy as engine conversions go. Same chassis, different engine - just swap everything over.
3. 11k is way too much to pay for a GA70. You can get a locally-delivered MA70 for much less.
4. Local MA70's are widebody, GA70's are not. Another reason to get a local car.
5. Every Mk3 I've seen had the same brakes, including GA70, MA70 and JZA70.
6. All Mk3's have the same diff type (8" G series) but ratio's will vary considerably and not all have factory LSD. Most GA70's have an open diff and very low ratio (around 4.6:1 for some), while local MA70's (turbo versions) have 3.7:1 and standard LSD. Most import MA70's have an LSD but not all.
7. Converting a JZA70 from auto to manual is not hard, but finding the necessary parts can be hard and will be expensive. If you want manual, buy a manual front cut.

Is the GA70 the one with the 2L?
11k Is the price of a 2L TT im going to look at. It is immac. with 57,000 genuine kms that's why price is high. This is the cond i want the car to be in which is why im having trouble finding a jza70 in suitable cond.
What is the diff between widebody and norm? Apart from this is 2L TT (GA70?) more or less the same as the MA70?
Also, apart from the eng, gearbox and front brakes, is the ma70 (aust delivered) non turbo the same as the turbo? What im getting at is, could i buy a non-turbo possibly auto aust delivered ma70 and do the 1jz and manual conversion on that car? Would it end up being the same car as a jza70 once i had swapped everything from a manual front-cut in?
Thanks

Drive the ga70 (2lt tt) and find out why $11K is far too much to pay for such a slow/gutless car. Even in immaculate condition.
A few little differences between widebody and normal (the widebody has more pumped guards for a start!).
You can certainly by a non-turbo Aussie delivered Ma70 and do a 1jz conversion if you have a jza70 front cut. I did that exact thing, going from a manual ma70 NA to a manual 1jz-tt. Virtually a "bolt in" procedure - but be prepared to do lots of unbolting and bolting in . No worries going from auto NA to manual 1jz as all the parts required are in the halfcut. There is no difference in the brakes between NA and turbo.

I thought I would be smart and get an A70 in good condition and do a conversion. However, finding a JZA70 for sale in Melb was pretty hard. 4 I saw were in WA or NSW.
If I could go back, I would have prolly just paid a couple thousand more and got an immac MA70. You just have to add the cost of car + half cut + labour + parts + etc and you could prolly just save a bit more and get an MK4 (dont know how much they go for atm).
Firstly, its hard enough to find a good manual half cut. Took me 2.5 years to get a half cut at the right time. One time I had to turn one down because it would have arrived just after my rego and insurance and 2 weeks before xmas. Then parts are a bit of a biatch to source.
If I could go back and got an immac MA70...instead of spending $7000 or so on this conversion, that $7000 could have went to modding a 7M (just check out all the parts that u can get for a 7M) or whatever.
Anyway, unless u really want to, dont do a conversion. I dont regret it, but if I could go back, it would be different.

Yeah, I got talked out of swapping the 7M-GTE for a 1J in mine, for the money spent and power gained, it wouldn't have worked out that great in the long run. (depends on what your goals are ofcourse)
