AFAIK there are no hard and fast rules. I have seen people quote anything from 2.5 times the engine capacity down to 60-70% engine capacity across to "make sure that it is big enough to support the runners that it is feeding!" (ie volume of 1 runner from bell mouth to valve x 4 in this case)
Bigger = less effect caused by the pressure waves travelling back and forth within the plenum and better overall flow.
Small = more responsive.
Result - suck it and see!

the one that is currently on your car is not that bad size wise, i would make one similer size (slightly larger if you can) but make it neater!
so far that is the best responding 20v turbo that i have tuned so it must be doing something half alright

i was thinking about leaving it about the same size, i just wanted something a little nicer looking and was just thinking that if there is more performance to be had, then why not while im at it!!!

Hey dude
intake plenum size on a 20v doesn't mean bugger all in power terms, as the throttle bodies are after the so called 'plenum'. The plenum size does matter on engines that have the throttle body before plenum. Its just a matter of what looks good on a 20v.

Actually he has a very good point!
Whats the difference betweent the so called plenum after the throttles and the 2.5" or 3" pipe to the intercooler?

the plenum on your car now used too belong to me. it was originally on an n/a 20v and dave modified it for the turbo setup. It's ugly but seeemed to work quite well.

when your at full throttle they both do the same thing, it doesnt care if there is a butterfly before or after it,
its all about air flow!
