Tell me more about the JZA70 diff Thu, 04 November 2004 09:39 Go to next message
Hey guys...

Just wondering if the JZA70 ever came *without* an LSD diff?

I got a diff with my half cut and when inspecting, the mechanic said that the wheels dont lock or something. Basically, u can put ur foot down on the brakes on one side and spin the other side with ur hand. I was told LSD diffs dont do that. So does that mean the diff I bought is stuffed or is a single spinner?

Cheers.

Laughing Why didnt I think to tell the mechanic to do that?

Anyway, say its stuffed/blown/whatever, can it be fixed up - like from a diff place?
Coz I need to hurry up and get my car on the road again. I dunno where I'm gonna find another one.

Even with a half cut, still need to buy little bits and pieces - which is making this conversion take longer than it should.

It's all good tho.

if its an LSD then it can be tightened and re shimmed, then good as new Very Happy

however it can only be reshimmed so far so if it has already been done then you might have a bit of trouble doing it again

JZA70 diff is torsen

torsen is multiplier diff

one wheel spinning in the air means 0 x n torque being sent to the other wheel

double check the mechanic or u put the correct diff oil into it just in case u have the wrong oil in it as well.

Well, guess I wont need to request it getting taken to a diff place.

Torsen uses regular diff oil btw. Doesn't require LSD oil.
