Yeah but you see where the bling-factor gets you in, say the ToyotaFest for example (not to mention a 3S-GTE conversion); a big fat fuck-all. Not even an encouragement award. There were a lot of high-quality rides there, and even though old-school class won the day, straight-out bling it seems doesn't even rate a mention. That only goes to show it's a tad overrated. 
Mine's still not complete though... had it have had the lower bodykit on it, *maybe* it might have been a different story. Or I just might have to throw a few green notes the judges way next year.

yeah u kinda are actually, ive noticed u have been dropping hints here and there about u not winning a trophy at toyota fest and it seems like your not happy about it.
dont stress d00d, not winning a trophy isnt a bad thing!!
having the mindset of building a car specifically for recognition is always gonna end in tears.
build the car for you, not for other people, cause frankly recognition is worth piss all and i know i built an RA40!!
a trophy doesnt mean anything, recognition will never fill the void, build the car for you and you only.
Dont strive to please everybody and u will find what you've built (for yourself), on its own merit, will have people appreciating it.
and finally, a question for u, have u read the nice comments people have made in your members rides thread? is that not enough?
if it isnt, then u will never be happy no matter how much money u spend and how many trophies u have...

This line of conversation probably should have mybe been PM'd, since it's turning into "being about me".
I'm not a trophy-hound, I don't seek trophies... I took on this project to do something different and stand out against all the others. I've won one trophy for my car since I've owned it and that was for showing up on the day and being the only one eligible in my class.
To me a trophy is something material to say thanks for your efforts and having the best car in that category. If I build a car for "me only", I'd never enter a competition like ToyotaFest. Because I'd be the only one who'd appreciate it.
I do take the time to go through my thread and I do acknowledge that there are a lot of encouraging comments about it - but there's also people who openly state that it's not to their taste and that kinda shit. There's also that one utter tool that decided to hang shit on it for being a RAV4. Not a good idea. 
I made that comment about ToyotaFest because I had a lot of people saying to me that they couldn't wait to see it. Definitely a different story on the day. All I can say is thank God I didn't build a car that was going to be all-show and no go.
PS: next time I think I'll be a little more circumspect about voicing opinions here...
