ST141 Digital Dash... Thu, 04 November 2004 10:19 Go to next message
hey guys, recently bought a Digital Dash out of a TT142 Corona (thanks CLG)

but i have noticed it's a different shape to my current dash, and there are 3 plugs, not 2 like the original...

I have read the RT142 Dash into the ST141 article, but I was wondering if this applied for the Digital Dash as well...

I don't want to be cutting the wiring loom to find that i'm going to fuck the dash and waste my money!
Would I be better off sourcing the right dash, or giving a bit of hack and slash a go?

I'm fairly handy when it comes to wiring etc, I just gotta pull the whole dash out so I can see where everything should go.

Cheers in advance

i guess it all depends on the signals going to the digital dash. As long as the same wires in each (digi and analogue) are present then its just a matter of re-pinning the digital dash plug (the loom end not the dash) to plug in the right way.

Just a case of matching your car wires the the corresponding ones on the dash cluster.

Only problem i can for see is that the signal strengths may be different or something like that between the two?

Hope this helps?

Nathan

Nah inputs are the same for digital and analog dash. You just need to re-pin the plugs as necessary. Fiddly work but not that hard!

tripple check everything if you decide to repin Wink

when i did a cluster swap in my old T-18 i had a black wire i thought was ground and hooked it up to a ground spot

bad mistake, the test run down the road yeilded smoke from under the dash Wink disconnectd the wire and taped it up and everythings been worken fine ever since

(no idea what the wire was for though Shocked )

On a side note I am loosely interested in a dash for my RT142 that has an inbuilt tacho (prefer analogue but digital if need be).

Wondering if an analogue one exists and if, being an RT142, I will have to do any arseing around with rewiring things. Not interested in rewiring, if it doesnt plug in I don't want to know about it....
