i'm running iridium plugs in my 1g with stock boost at the moment. i had the gap at 1mm (i blame my father) and it felt very unresponsive. it seemed like it was mis-firing from time to time.
I set it back to 0.8mm and it seems all good now.

I have mine gapped at 0.8 and they seem to run fine, ill see how they go with more boost and try gapping them at 0.7 bit of an experiment, its only about 15 minutes work anyway

.8mm will be fine for anything up to about 18psi then you may need to bring it down to .7 or .65 depending on the ign system you have, when gapping below .8 you may exprience some slight idle misses.

can speak from experience, once you gap them down too low, the idle goes to hell,
for example
given the fact that i run LPG and high boost, technically the gap has to be down a lot for the two factors
on the weekend I gapped it down a lot (can't remember exactly to what) and the idle went from sweet as to absolute shit and the boost handling went up.

the only thing that will fix that problem is a CDI ign setup or one of the new microtech ign boosted ecu's these will run 30psi with .9mm plug gaps and wont have a problem firing any fuel mixtures you have!

If you are going to run any more boost than standard then chuck the iridiums or platinums in the bin and put a set of Denso K20PR-U plugs in , they cost about $3.50 each and produce a much better spark then the others ,I use the Denso plugs in my 3SGTE and have run over 35 lbs boost without problems , I gap them at .030" .

depends on the engine/ boost etc,
some cars wont run on 7's but some will run on 9's

Gidday
Plugs are designed to run at a specific gap. ie .7mm or 1mm or whatever, the gap is specified in the plug code, just chech the reference manual at your local auto parts store. SOOO pick then plug for the gap you wish to run. If you are running increased boost you would be better off running .7mm.
Don't regap your plugs to a different setting as you will be chasing problems for ever.
