currently doing this conversion, 18rg has a mechnical fuel pump so no worries there, only thanks we are going to have to change is throttle mechanism and exhuast

they use the same block so everything will bolt up just fine!

if its a 4wd i ran into a few troubles. like the air filters hit the brake booster,I have seen one with the brake booster reposioned foward, like an escort? this seemed inpractical. I swaped the engine mount brakets from left to right and right to left.this off set the motor enough to fit ram stile air filters, but the fan didnt line up, this was fixed with a theremo type,(this I do not recommend as stuffed theremo = stuffed motor).so if you could off set the radiator and or shroud this would be better, extractors off a celica will fit with a little adjusting.I made a very short air intake housing and ran to a commadore air box. but now have made a intake manifold to run a super charger with su style carby,pm if interested in old parts. the 18rg is good in sand, mud and rally, not great for rock climbing or slow stuff. good luck

the 18RGU in my old celica didn't have a lobe on the auxillary shaft it had a plate on it! so i couldn't put a mechanical pump on it!!! resorted to a leccy one..but that motor didn't last very long anyway so got a couple of 18RG's i had lying around mixed n matched good head on this..this in that etc..the motor is now going into my lux..and i have already thought of the air filter problem and sketched up a box i'm making once its in there so i can get the dimensions just right! Very Happy
