Overheating 4A-C, Water Pump?! HELP!

Hey Guys,
For the last week or so my 4A-C AE86 has been overheating. The engine goes into the red at the moment unless I keep it in 5th below about 90km/h, its a real pain in the ass I thought mabey there was just plain water in the radiator so I flushed it and the block and filled it with coolant and water...
The radiator flushed fine, but when I tried to flush the block via the two pipes that come off what looks to be the water pump/rad fan all the water just spat right back out the hole I was putting it in... Both pipes were the same! So I put a rad hose on both pipes and held it tight around the garden hose and then only a trickle came out the oposite pipe!?!!?
Does this sound like the water pump? If so where can I get one and whats it going to cost me rougly?

The reason it isn't coming out the other side is because the thermostat is shut {meant to do that when cold}.
If the thermostat constantly stays shut the water doen't circulate hence the over heating.
Get a new thermostat, fit it and see how u go.

I had this problem about 3 weeks ago, I replaced the thermostate and flushed about a billion times but in the end it turned out to be my pump, so i just got a second hand one and put it in works fine. Changed it just in time for the Canberra Celica Group cruise to Batemans Bay and made it up and down the Clyde with out any probs.

The thermostate and gasket together cost me about $20 from supercheap. the water pump i got for nothing from a member of the canberra celica group not sure how much they cost new. and I got some gasket paper from autopro as they didn't have the gasket i needed for the pump onto the block
