Stephen, it wasn't doing it before I went a replaced my bearing that's all.. and the seals look pretty good on these brakes
but I think I did everything up to spec.
if feels exactly like the piston is getting pushed back, and then i have to push it back into place and it is fine till I go arond another corner.. the harder I corner, the further I have to push my pedal to restore nomal feel lol

Hrm - I'd be checking the work again if that's the case. It could either be the caliper needs help or something is loose back there!

Hi Rob, check your wheel bearings buddy. The caliper is bolted to the strut, under lateral loads, a loose wheel bearing will allow the disc to tilt in relation to the caliper. This would effectively push back your piston.
regards Chuck.

hey Chuck thanks dude
I have only very recently had the bearing replaced (ie, this is why I had it all off onn Saturday, and noticed the problem yesterday)
got the job done at a workshop and put it all back together myself
perhaps the hub-nut isn't tight enough? but i did it up really tight, and have taken hubs on and off plenty before and never had a problem..

this doesnt sound right at all... wouldnt doing it up tight collapse the bearing?
or are we talking about different things

the books says it has to be around 137 ft/lb on the nut
that's pretty tight... you know you gotta take 'em off with a big breaker and stuff..
the only thing that holds the driveshaft onto the hub/bearing is this nut
if it was loose I could imagine movement in there.. but I just inspected all the components.. they seem pretty tight
I will check my hub-nut again

thanks rob kinda wierding me out
sick of continual dramas over the last three weeks when i have had 3 years of awesome reliablility.. oh well, once they are sorted she'll be sweet as again
Quote: | it's called "knock back", but doesn't happen much on type calipers that aren't fixed mount & opposing piston. what are yours???
|
the pads are in a fixed mount with the pistons operating off a hinge at the top whic slide down over the pads.. usual deal
