18rgeu valves not opening fully Mon, 08 November 2004 08:45 Go to next message
ive been having dramas with my engine with valves. At first i thought it was valves hitting pistons but it turns out after removing the head again that the valves are not opening fully...when i turn the cam the valve open but not enough for the cam to fully rotate...what could cause this...the only thing i can think of is the collets are upside down but i thought they only went one way...what else can it be???

stock cam?
higher lift?

springs binding?
wrong retainers?
collets in wrong?
wrong valve stem seals?

turn the cam slowly and see what gets close to what just before it stops moving.

good luck!

turned out to be collets upside down solder pressure on the valve springs causing the valves to not have enough room to open fully.
