That depends on weather or not its an Aussie delivered one or an import.
Some of the 80's cressidas came with 5MGE's (JDM ones) and the rest got 5ME's

Since the 5MGE wasn't realised until 1982, I'd say your shit outta luck.
And the 5MGE didnt hit aussie shores until late 1985/early 1986, and it was only ever in the MX73 Cressida.

Actually just done some research... Mate of mine (on toymods as Maniac) has a JDM Ma60 supra build date of Sept 1980 with compliance plate of 81... (Must be one of the earliest MA60's) It has a 5MGE in it.. It wasnt put in later either as the build plate marks down 5MGE

Yeah, now that you mention it, the MA45 Celica Supra had the 5mge in its later years too.
But from what I know, the MX62 is 5me and solid axle
and the MX63 (not release in Aus) is 5mge and IRS.

Are you sure about that? I've only heard of them coming with the 4M-E (early) and 5M-E (late).

Hmmm, well, I'm just remembering the one from ToyNats '04.
It looked as though it had been brought back to factory showroom condition, and it had a 5mge, so I just presumed it was original.
But I did never look at the build plates.
