silver top 20v - timing? Mon, 08 November 2004 13:17 Go to next message
I'm sure this has been discussed previously.
What is the correct timing for a silver top 20v?

Also: anything else that should be adjusted or 'tuned - up' to ensure the engine is running at its best? I think my engine is running a bit rich, as it backfires a little bit.

Cheers

I have found on few (especially the B/T in the missus car) run 15-20 deg !! Really funny because on others, the standard setting has been fine... I now just do it the old way, throw them on a dyno, advance til they ping, then retard a degree or two... I always use PULP too.

12 degree's is toyota's recommendation and for performance...

you don't need a dyno, it just make it easier...
