hey all,
got all the $$$ for the conversion now. i did have my mind set on a 100Kw 16valve 4age for my ae86 sprinter. (got the 4a-c in at the moment). but, have been confronted with the option of the 20valve. but cause i havn't thought of it before i don't know much about them, all i know that they come in a silver top, unfortunately that's about it. so i'd like to know, how easy this conversion is compared to the 100kw one. and can the standard sprinter gearbox handle either of these engines or do i have to buy a new one, and what would be an estimated cost of one of these. can i keep the same clutch or do i have to put in a new one???? also, the diff. can i keep the diff that i've got now for both of these conversions???? also do u know of anywhere where i can read about this conversion and all the steps i need to take???
i'm currently enquiring at JMS at adelaide. is this company reliable, or do u suggest any other companies. jms supply kits, as in loom, computer etc. everything for the conversion, this is why i'm looking into there.
also, should i look at a rebuild before installation, is it necessary???
thanx heaps for any replies and support,
nathan

There is much info on this very topic in the forums. Do a quick search all most of your questions will be answered!
There are 2 versions of the 20V, silver top and black top. Bill Sherwoods page give a run down on both - http://www.billzilla.org
It comes down to if you want power or streetability (as far as i know). The 20V will give a nice streetable car, with more than enough poke for fun in the hills (i'm in Adelaide too) The GZE or GTE (more money, but good from what i'm told) will give you maximum power and torque! Go for the engine that best suits what you intend to do with hte car.
As you will be putting an FWD engine into a RWD car, all the conversions will be difficult. Again, lots of info in the forums about what to do there.
JMS. I dont know much about then, so i wont comment as i wouldnt want to misslead.
Have fun!
Craig.

Go GZE - I've had both and GZE wins.
