friends car got broken into over the weekend and around her fuel hatch there were screwdriver marks and think some idiot might have put sugar in the tank
is there any way to test this without draining the whole tank first?

someone else said that.... but she wasn't too enthusied by the idea of tasting petrol lol
and i would have thought u'd have to have a fair bit of sugar to actually taste the difference - she's got atleast 20L of petrol in there.

its prolly more likely there were trying to torch the car or syphon the fuel out..
ive heard sugar isnt really _that_ bad as it dissolves in fuel. Worst comes to worst just dilute it with more fuel, but in some cleaner/octane booster and take it for a thrash and burn it out

doesn't the engine run fine with sugar in the tank but then as the engine heats up it starts to clog up the carb/injectors and so forth, and causes everything to glaze over.
but i guess it depends on how much they put in.

Of course, it may not be sugar at all...but rather, ground glass.
Than again, probably not!

My opinion: is it really worth the risk ?? as biased suggested it could be anything ....just flush out the tank and u could save yourself heaps of $$$

What sort of car is it? Sugar does'nt do a damm thing in most cars It just desolves and gets burnt away no problem at all! The only reason the sugar would gum things up would be if someone put a few Kg's worth in the tank which I doubt anyone would do!
If you put castor oil in with your fuel it makes the burnt gases smell nice
